Neuromuscular dentistry is a philosophy where the temporomandibular joint is aligned correctly before and after all your cosmetic and restorative dental work. If your top and bottom teeth aren’t fitting together properly, it can cause a number of symptoms, such as neck and facial pain, worn teeth, headaches, and more. Some of the symptoms of TMJ / TMD are loose teeth, loss of teeth, bruxism, or tooth grinding, uneven tooth wear, headaches, neck aches, and migraines, soreness of the facial muscles, clicking and popping of the jaw. With continued wear and grinding these can lead to worsening of the TMJ/TMD symptoms.
Dr. Seth and her team carefully plan all of their dental work to ensure that the temporomandibular joint is properly aligned. After a thorough evaluation Dr. Seth recommends stress reducing exercises, muscle relaxants or help find relief from their symptoms using a custom designed nightguard. Our nightguards help halt any grinding of the teeth at night and train the muscles of the jaw into the proper alignment.
