Dental crowns, also known as caps, help restore structural integrity to a compromised tooth. A tooth that has cracked, fractured, chipped, or is broken may need to be crowned in order to improve the way the tooth both looks and functions. Crowns can be made from all-porcelain, ceramic, or a mixture of either of these materials on top of a metal base. They are custom made to fit your smile perfectly and they feel completely comfortable.
Depending on the placement of the crown and your personal preference, we can help determine which crown is right for you. The procedure to place a crown is done quickly and easily in our office.
Dental crowns are often recommended when the tooth structure has been compromised in some way. The point of a crown is to restore the tooth to its original size and shape. They are custom made to fit your smile perfectly and they feel completely comfortable.

After a thorough examination and dental x-rays, our doctors will determine if you are a good candidate for a crown. Crowns can also be remade to replace existing caps that have worn out or fallen out. They are custom made to fit your smile perfectly and feel completely comfortable. The crown procedure normally only requires local anesthetic, so it is deemed safe and effective for the majority of the patients needing to have the restoration placed.
After administering local anesthetic to make the procedure as comfortable as possible, we will work to file down and smooth the affected tooth to make room for the crown. Impressions are taken of the area and you will go home the same day with a temporary crown. Your next appointment involves removing the temporary crown and placing the permanent ceramic or porcelain restoration. We will do slight adjustments to the fit and feel of the crown and you will be ready to be on your way. Your new crown will last for many years with proper care.
If you think you might need a new crown or want to know more about this procedure, call us now and our friendly staff members can further assist you.
